This feature allows you to quickly add multiple tasks to a project in one action using an Excel import. This is especially useful for project setups, onboarding large task lists, or migrating data from other systems.
1. Download the Provided Task Template
Before importing, always use the provided Excel template to ensure the format matches the system requirements.
-
The template includes the correct column names and data structure.
-
You can obtain the template from your system administrator or the download link in the import section.
-
Do not change the column headers or structure.
2. Prepare Your Task Data
Fill in the template with your task details:
-
Task Name – Short and clear title of the task.
-
Description – Details of what needs to be done.
-
Start Date & Due Date – Use the correct date format (e.g., YYYY-MM-DD).
-
Priority – Low, Medium, or High.
-
Milestone – Link to an existing milestone name (optional).
-
Assignee – Exact name of the user in the system.
-
Related To – For example, “Project” or “Contract.”
-
Tags – Optional keywords for filtering tasks.
3. Import the Excel File
-
Go to Projects → Select the target project.
-
Click Import Task.
-
In the Import Task from Excel window:
-
Upload: Click Choose file and select your filled-in template.
-
Visible to customer: Check if you want customers to see the tasks.
-
Milestone: Select the milestone (if applicable).
-
Priority: Set default priority for imported tasks (can be overridden in Excel).
-
Related To: Choose "Project" or relevant entity.
-
Project: Ensure the correct project is selected.
-
Assignees: Assign tasks to a default person (can be overridden in Excel).
-
-
Click Save.
4. Review and Confirm
-
Once imported, tasks will appear in the Tasks tab.
-
Double-check for missing data or incorrect assignments.
-
Edit any task individually if needed.
Best Practices
-
Always validate your Excel file before importing.
-
Keep the template structure unchanged.
-
Use consistent naming for milestones, assignees, and priorities to avoid errors.
-
If importing tasks for multiple projects, repeat the process per project.
